A little about Treasure Quest...

Site founder Gregory BittingerHello,

My name is Gregory Bittinger and I'm the founder of Treasure Quest, thanks for visiting!

Living in historic south west Pennsylvania I've always had a love for its history. I purchased my first metal detector (a used coin master) 27 years ago when I was 14 years of age and after finding my first quarter I was hooked! I loved nothing better than digging coins and bottles.

My oldest find took place about five years ago, I located an old stone foundation near a creek at the edge of my property and there found a 1772 half cent Hibernia minted in Ireland. I use a Whites Spectrum XLT and it treats me well, I especially like the built in back light for night hunting.

I founded this site in November 2002. Our goal is to help others in this great hobby of Metal Detecting / Treasure Hunting. We aim to provide you with good solid information, from picking the right detector to proper digging techniques and also a place for you to meet, chat and trade with other enthusiasts.

In the future we are planning to have a Treasure Hunt get-together, this will take some planning and we would need some help from anyone interested in meeting up. Stay tuned for more information.

I personally want to thank all of you for helping to make Treasure Quest the #1 Treasure Hunting web site!

We have decided to move in a new direction. We will have a local server for 2008. A big thank you to JohnWPA for taking on this task. He is planning to host us a good solid robust dedicated server starting sometime in 2008. I would like to pay him yearly for this server. We are now accepting donations for the new server. I do not have the cost amount but will post it as soon as I know.
