Default making a probe

Can anyone give some tips for making my own probe ?
I searched for awhile online & didn't really come up with anything.

I do my own welding & have an idea for a design , BUT I can't seem to find a SPRING STEEL rod to build it with.

Does everyone use that type of material?

Every probe I found for sale was made with spring steel & makes sense to me to use that material in construction of it.

thanks !

Find an old S/Steel CB whip antenna and cut part of it off, drill a hole in a golf ball, and stick the probe in it. Just a thought, but might work.

I did find something of interest after I posted this , someone recommended using the springs of a 70's-80s car trunk.
I know exactly what they are talking about & I think they would work good.
They usually run from one side of the trunk to the other right under the package tray.....

Thought I'd pass thisalong in hopes of helping someone else too !

I made one from a brass rod that I got from a hobby store. Not as strong as steel but less likely to damage your find.
