Default A Few Ole' Bottles

Here's a few from today and a few days ago and one from a few years ago. 1st pic with the exception of the marbles is today's finds. 1st pic.The round one with a top say's " E.W. hoyt & Co, Perfumers, Lowell, Mass U.S.A." (anyone know how to preserve tops?) the second one over is a small, blue, vicks nose drops. The next one is a shaefer skrip inkwell, and a small blue noxzema. The long crappy looking thing is a toothbrush that looks like its made of bone, Ivory maybe? The bottle behind it says, "Baker's, Flavoring Extracts, Baker Extract Co." on the sides it says "Absolutely Pure" and "Full Strength" and 2 marbles I dug up as well. Pic2 is my new marble jar from today and my jug from a few years back it reads "Taunus Brunnen - By Appointment" "J.Friedrich, Grosskarben, B/Frankfurtam" and on the back "N.11." Maybe its just me but it looks as though the handle has been repaired. $1 at a lawn sale. Was it worth it Pappy. Pic 3 and 4 are just close ups of the bottle. Swiz

Default A Few Old Bottles

SWIZ, First of all...Olive Oil will preserve the cork stopper on your bottle.
NOW..It appears that the dump you are working was visited pretty often by a person of German decent. The Hoyt Perfume/Cologne bottle is German..Check out the following:

http://www.ipass.net/rlynch/bottles/cologne.htm

REGGIE has a wonderful site concerning old bottles.

The Vicks is a cobalt blue and is collectable...Valued at around $8.00+ if in really good shape.
Schaffer Script Ink is worth about $2.00- $3.00 in good shape...Not Old but will be good collectable in the future.
The Noxzema is worth about $1.00
The toothbrush would be plastic and appears hardened with age.
Bakers Extract contained a baking extract...Poss Vanilla...Worth about $3.00- $5.00
NOW for the good part...YOU MADE A GREAT BUY ON THE TAUNUS BRUNNEN
I have seen these go anywhere from $100.00 to a$1,000.00 at bottle and glass shows.
The handle on the jug is just as it is supposed to be...Has not been mended.
It is a mineral water bottle used for waters of "CERTIFIED" Mineral Springs in Germany. These bottles are at least 100 years old and were shipped all over the world. Every "Spring" has it's own stamp. TAKE PARTICULAR CARE OF THIS JUG. You may want to get it certified by a bottle expert. Visit the next bottle show in your area and let an expert take a look at it...PROUD OF YOUR FINDS.....PAPPY

Very Nice I looked it up a few years ago and I figured it was around the $150 range but I thought the handle was damaged and figured it wasn't worth nearly that. How do I find out about bottle shows coming to upstate NY? This bottle wasn't from the bottle dump. The perfumers bottle has a combo metal/cork top with some of the original white paint on it, would the olive oil destory the paint, or doesn't it matter. I also found this little jar at the bottle dump yesterday. It has no mint marks. I can't find anything on him at all. The base is made so tha he can be tilted forward. Thanx for all the info Pappy.
