Hi Pappy,
Need some help on this, if you could give me the age and other info I would appreciate any help.
It measures about 41 inches long and there are no markings or numbers on it.

Default CAVALRY SABER

WELL GREG, You have a mighty nice saber there. It is from the Civil War Period it appears and possibly a UNION saber. It is in the catagorey of what we call the "UNMARKED AND STILL UNIDENTIFIED DESIGN OF CALVARY SABER". I can't give you a price on it but if it is orig. and in the GREAT condition it appears....DON'T LET GO OF IT JUST YET.
It possibly is a "Sophisticated" style of saber used by members of the FOOT ARTILERY forces with the Confederacy. Is the scabbard made of copper? Look on the blade right under the hand guard and make sure it has no markings on it. Is the scabbard round tipped? It could either have been made in Nashville Tenn. By the National Plow Company or in Richmond Va. by the Burger and Brothers Co. LOOK THIS SABER OVER REALLY REALLY GOOD for ANY ID Marks and let me know if you find ANYTHING....PAPPY :D :D :D

Thanks Pappy,
The scabbard is made of copper or brass and is rounded. I will really give it a good look over tomorrow when I get home.

Default CALVARY SABER

O.K. GREG, The saber is classified as "UNMARKED AND STILL UNIDENTIFIED DESIGN OF CALVARY SABER" and was manufactured.by one of the two Company's that I mentioned in my previous post. This is how the CIVIL WAR IDENTIFICATION CAT. List the item. The one I looked at in the Cat. looks just about identical to the one you have. Prob. was used by a Confederate Art. Foot Soldier....Hope this helped a little....I WOULD take it to a Civil War Dealer or Museum and have it appraised....PAPPY :D :D :D
