Hi Pappy, me again

I found this pin ,it's about the size of a quarter , it was just 10 feet or so from where i found the button ( 8 inches or so deep), belong to james hill civil war medal of honor winner from our town , he built the house in 1855 and lived and died ther after the war.. His story can be seen at ... chaplin james hill 21 first iowa infantry , Havent been able to find out just how old it may be , a local guy is checking also, but i would greatly value your opinion.

So i may loan it to the local historical society for display , as he was very influential in the early progress of our town

i thought it might be later than the civil war period,.
