Default Skull copper

OK Pappy, I got this piece of native copper from a dig in Michigan many years ago. Someone has told me that it is known as "skulll" copper, since it resembles a naturally formed bowl shape. There are also traces of native silver (black) on the inside of the bowl. I once treated it with acid to verify the silver and it reoxidized. It is about 8 pounds.

What do you think it is worth?

Default Thanks

Thanks for the link, I guess that this piece is rare, but is it worth anything beyond it's value as a metal? Is there a market for this kind of stuff?

Default Skull Copper

It very well could be worth more than just metal value due to it's shape. You might want to check e-bay and other auction sources. I have seen Skull Copper go for right nice pocket change on e-bay.

I'll do some checking too and let you know what I find.

There is 1 on ebay it is 5.5 ounces and they are asking $160 for it. It is not even the cool shape that yours is. I think you have something special there.
