Pappy
been hangin around this forum for about a week now,the knowledge you have is just incredible, anyway was just randomly reading some of the forums tonight and ended up in here got as far as the "more bullets" post and had to stop for a moment ,cause about a week and half ago up in the foothills of the Sierra's near an abondoned home I ran across these 2 bullets ,while running my detector.
brought them home showed em to my son and jokingly said ,look what I found !thier from the Civil War!lol he's 3rd year college and says to me no Dad they didnt fight the Civil War in Calif. but they look to me very similar to the ones from the "more bullets" thread !well I figure the home I found these at dates back to near the Gold Rush era anyway heres a pic
Im gonna go read some more on your forums here!
thanks to you guys for havin this forum its GREAT!
Sam

SAM, THANKS..WE TRY TO HAVE A GREAT SITE AND I THINK SO FAR IT IS WORKING LIKE A CHARM...HOPE TO BE HERE FOR A LONG TIME. ALSO, THANKS FOR THE COMPLIMENT.
CAN'T TELL TOO MUCH ABOUT THE FIRST BULLET BUT THE SECOND (ON THE RIGHT) IS A 58 CAL CLEANER BULLET. YOUR SON IS RIGHT IN SAYING THAT THE CIVIL WAR WAS NOT FOUGHT IN THAT AREA BUT THEY WOULD HAVE HAD THE SAME TYPE WEAPONS. THE BULLET IS FROM THAT PERIOD OF TIME. THE CLEANER BULLET WAS USED TO CLEAN OUT THE WEAPON AND TAKE OUT ALL POWDER AND RESIDUE....PAPPY
