Default Prisoner Button?

Went out to the fields around the prison today and found an old brass button or belt buckle, I can't tell.

Anyways, a little about the area: The town was one of the first interior towns in Massachusetts. The field I found it was used for farming for many years, by the prisoners Probably since the 1800's. There were Revolutionary War soldiers in that area.

I tried to identify it on the web but I've found nothing.

That's what I was kind of thinking. Some farmer lost his button.

Default Button

Is it possible to take a little clearer picture of the button and does it have any type lettering on it at all?

It has no lettering on it. Too be honest, that's about the best picture I can probably get out of my camera.

...maybe try taking a picture with more light and a lighter background? I really can't see enough detail to even take a SWAG at it...
