Default Here's your answer Jack

It's a hub cap off a Civil War vehicle???LOL..LOL. NOPE it's a chimney flue cover. When us older folk's took down the old wood burning stove in the spring time we used these to cover the flu hole in the wall inside the house where the stove pipe was located.Kept the hole covered until stove time again and looked pretty good on the wall too...Probably from around the mid. 1800's to the mid 1900's. Still use the today but they are not made like the one you located...GOOD FIND....PAPPY

Default Flue Cover

YEP, I USED A RACOON FOR A WATCH DOG AND WE HAD BUZZARDS FOR CHICKENS......THE OLDER ONES ( IF YOU WILL LOOK AT THE OUTSIDE RIM) FIT RIGHT OVER THE STOVE PIPE JUNCTION AGAINST THE WALL AND AT ONE TIME HAD A SMALL ADJUSTABLE WIRE ON THE BACK TO HOLD IT IN PLACE...
