Default What Is This ??

I know Pappy will be gone for a little while, but was wondering if someone can help me with this thing. My sister dug this up recently. I think it was a necklace at one time, but was wondering about the writing on it? Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

The round part looks like an oriental coin if the top wasn't on it, it does look like part of a necklace, but seems kinda big and heavy for that.

Looks like plating is peeling? Any idea what the base metal is?

Anyway, it's a cool find, can't wait until someone identifies it .

But it looks kinda cool. Almost looks like the cover of a latch of some sorts...

Cool find ! I also think it looks like a oriental coin.I seem to remember that these coins would come on a "tree" kinda like the parts for a model car. Were they were all conected and you would break one off to use it,the one you have may have been the top of the tree.

Indy, I'm researching the Chinese lettering. My quess is that its a good luck charm. They used to hang these coin type charms from a lanyard type thing with knots in it. I'll let you know when/if I can translate. Cool find all the same.
