Porcelain lid

Hey Pap.....wanted to get a date on this lid....was found around the spring house down by Greg's.....what do ya think?

JOHN, Probably around 1900's to mid 1900's. Lid insert for fruit jar.PAPPY

it is a canning jar lid from the consolidated fruit jar company in new york. that is their symbol in the middle. it went between the zinc top and the food to keep the metal taste out. i found a few and did alot of research on them but there is not much info out there.

heres one of mine. the pic is pretty bad but it is exacly like yours exept it says "consolidated fruit jar company new york" around the edge. the symbol that is on your is in the middle

will do as soon as i get my camera back. i found a bottle this weekend hiking along the old railroad bed this weekend. i dont know if anyone wants to see some of the sites im gonna detect this spring but i can get some pics of those too.
