JACK, THINK WE HAVE IT FIGURED OUT...BUT FIRST...Where are you finding these things (Type of Area), how many and are they close together. When you dig them are you finding any charred ground or other items? Are they all the same in shape or do they differ somewhat?...THANKS...PAPPY

Default where i find them

I usaually find them around old house places and not more than one or two at a time and not very often, i looked at robs and these are not like his they just have a hole but we do find some round ones with a wire looking thing in the middle sorta like robs pic's show, those we was told was weights for the tails of the long coats, they come from the battle area we hunt, have not found any of them around the house places, these look just like a regular washers just lead instead, the one i pictured is not very good one it is in very rough condition.....thanks ....jack

JACK, When you dig these items, is the ground charred or blackened in any way?
PAPPY

No just out in the tough clay around here, never noticed any charred or burned stuff, and yes rob the picture i took is a very rough example that bar looking thing is just a piece of lead , i have some in a bucket somewhere that are better, this one came from a corn field where the once was a old large house , i can barely remember it was been torn down a long time ago, i say at least 40 years and then it was in very bad condition, i had really forgotten it til my wife and i was talking one day and i thought if it would just warm up and quit raining we would look it over, didn't do very well yesterday just a few old copper looking pieces and the lead washer but going back again may not have been over the right place not much showing in the field.....jack

I've found a few of those before and was told they would sew them into the bottom of curtains so they would'nt blow in the wind so bad...........but that sounded a little fishy to me
