Default What kind of comm. tokens are these?

They are Presidential tokens of some type, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Franklin Pierce. Iforgot all about them untill tonite. I metal detected them from my yard several years ago. They are copper and it looks like they were plated at one time possibly with gold? I know I have never been able to find anything on them.

Sarge, I think they are redemption tokens but I can't make out what they say on the reverse side..Can you tell me what is printed on the reverse?
Years ago "Service Stations" used to give them out to customers and it was kinda like the green stamp program, the more you collected the more you could exchange them for gas, oil, services and the such.:snowman:

Reverse side; Thomas Jefferson, Long Tom,Author o the Declaration of Independence,Minister to France,Secretary of State,Purchased Louisana from France,Greatest scholar of his time,Sage Of Monticello.
John Adams; Son Of Liberty,Minister to England,Vice President 2 Terms,Created US Navy on account of European War Cloud, First President to occupy White House.
Franklin Pierce;POOR PIERCE,congressman, United States Senator,Brigadier General in Mexican War,Greater Soldier than Statesman,Favored Slavery untill outbreak of Civil War, Fires of Civil War Lighted.
I was told years ago when I was a kid that a old woman lived here and liked to bury things. I have also used homemade dowsing rods and found a few items too; one was a german silver serving spoon with bunches of grapes on the handle.
