Default UPDATE on old bow more pictures

the pictures of the markings are from the hand hold to the tip of the bow (left to right)
My mother remembers her dad killing deer with it when they did not have bullets for their 45-70 trapdoor springfield rifle.
my grandfather started out in germany then to NY,Iowa,minnesota,montana/wyoming then to wisconsin to settle down
the string was replaced in the early 1950s. (the original one was made out of sinew) when i got big enough to use it.. i harvested rabbits, squirrels, ducks, geese, grouse, fox, coon, bobc at and coyote with it, no deer tho ,i used a .22 rifle for that... the last it was used, i harvested a coyote with it in the winter of 1966-67 right after getting out of the USN ...
i have stored it in my gun safe since then. I'm sure it will still do it's job if called on.
hope the pic come thru alright
george

Yes i have the gun.
in fact it's been to the deer woods every year since 1901 (except the 5 years i was in the USN)62-67.
i cast the 405gr bullets out of lead using a mold made in 1873, load with 70gr black powder. SHE has never failed to put meat on the table.
sometimes other hunters will chuckle over how long SHE is...some say ugly...
but, when you are hunting ,setting in the woods , quiet ,that old gun has never failed to connect me to those who have held HER (used HER) before me..
my son will be taking HER over in a few years , so SHE still has a great future
(longer than mine for sure)
thanks for asking.... i didn't realize till now that i had such an emotional attachment to the "OL GIRL"
