Default Old light bulb?

OK since I do not know of anywhere else on here to post this I decided to go here. I have something that is a little odd to me and wanted to know if anyone else can give me some information on it. I have a standard size Sylvania light bulb. Only other word on the bottle that I can make out besides the brand is "Capsylite".

The odd part is how thick the glass is on this bulb. I can not give any measurement on how think the glass is, without breaking it of course. The part that would screw into a socket seems to be normal size, but I have not tried to screw it into a socket. The top (opposite of the screw end) is flat unlike the curved shape of a normal light bulb. This bulb is quite heavy compared to a regular bulb.

I hope someone can give me some information on this thing. I am going to assume that it is just some type of modern bulb that I just have not seen before, but I still want to know.

Thank you for your time and replies.

(Sorry to take the Pappy area, but like I said I was not sure where else I could post this)

Default Light Bulb

NO PROBLEM posting it here. I'll try and find out what I can and let you know.

Could you possibly post a pic. of the light bulb?

Thank you Pappy, but no that is not it.

Arkwater. I know what your talking about but no.

This looks to be about the same size as a normal bulb, except for the fact that the one end is flat.

Let me look around for my camera and then the cord for the computer. Should have a picture posted by early afternoon at the latest.

I was just taking a closer look and the area inside where the filament would be seems to be very different then a normal bulb. I see wires going up to it and the wires look much thicker then normal. I will see if there is any way I can come up with a picture with a good strong back light so you can see what I am talking about. I am not sure if this thing is old or not but you can tell it is built for something besides everyday use.

Smile Possibly New

If I'm not mistaken, it's a fairly new energy efficient halogen spot lamp from Sylvania, of which there are about 100 different shapes. OSRAM SYLVANIA - Capsylite PAR

Thanks
Leo

Thank you LeoinPA for the information. I am thinking maybe I should go to like home depot or something and go to the lighting department and ask some of the workers if they can give any info as to if it is new or not.

Here are 2 pictures. Forgive me, they are not the best. Only camera I could find off hand was a web cam.

In image 1 you can see the flat top to the bulb. In image 2 you can see the thick wire coming from the bottom. I do not think I will be able to get any really good photos of the inside because it is thick frosted glass. This thing is pretty heavy but I do not have a scale and have found anything to compare it to yet.

I will look for one of my other cameras and see if I can get some better pictures.

Question Pretty Close

I think it looks real close to this: 75 Watt - MB19 Halogen - Clear - 3,000 Life Hours - 120 Volt - 75MB/CAP/120V - Sylvania #18969 Light Bulb with a different glass

Thanks
Leo
