Default A tool for ya Pappy

Found this while going through my Great Grandfather's tool box..
It's 3 3/4 inches long, meant to be struck on the narrow end, has a hole in the top that bends and comes out the larger end next to a cup shaped indent. What ya think Pappy?

Pretty interesting Bob. I have been sitting here trying to figure out what it could be used for. I hope Pappy can figure it out. I sure would like to now.

I was thinkin somethin' similar. I was thinkin it looked like some sort of grommet tool. Is that star shape in the little cup thing a reflection of light or is it an indentation?

Trick of the light, indent is smooth, about 1/4 inch in diameter and maybe 1/16th deep..
Also believe, from where I found it probably dates to late 1800s early 1900s.
No marks or identification..

Default Tool

BOB, I'm most sure that it is used for setting grometts in canvas.
