The reason I ruled out aluminum is because I can not cut through it with a sharp knife. I would assume aluminum is softer than the metal knife blades are comprised of. Weight wise, it almost feels like braising.
Since its not a precious metal, I'm not going to worry about it. But it would be nice if there was a guide of some sort to help people determine what kind of metal they have found... like a chart using weight/volume, magnetism, color, chemical reactions, scratch hardness, and so on. Maybe I'll do my homework and write one. |

I actually purchased my metal detector to find meteorites. From my understanding... meteorites are very hard to come by, and can be worth many times over what gold is worth. I wouldn't be so quick to assume I'm lucky
