Need help identifying
Hey Pappy,
Here's some pics I need help with. The cylinder looking thing was found in an older park by a river. It measures 5 1/2" X 1". It gives a VDI of 0 from a distance cleaned up (although in the ground it gave a solid reading of 60). It is solid all the way around and looks to be hollow on the inside. Note the hole in the side view. The iron spike (perhaps a key?) came from an older mine site. It is 8 1/2" long. The width tapers down from 1 1/8" to 5/8". Hawk

Looks to be a carbon rod found in 12 volt and 6 volt batteries. keep it and use it for electrolysis of larger iron items with a battery charger. Here is a link:

YEP, Pretty sure it is a carbon rod too. The other item looks like it could have a one time been a chisel or a punch of some sort.
