Default Micronta 4001 Discriminator Detector

Hey PAPPY,

I guess you can call this a "non-detecting, detector find"!

I came across this older, smaller detector cheaper than dirt cheap..... and it works great!

Micronta = Radio Shack...so I'm thinking there must have been a number of these put out.

Could you tell me a bit about it? I'm thinking it's from the 80's(?)

Also, what would be the best way to clean up the corrosion in the battery area.

Is there any other maintenance/cleanup I could do for it, as it looks to have been resting for quite some time?

Hawk

Default Detector

Google "Micronta Metal Detector" and you will come up with all kinds of goodies on this detector.

A little WD40 or Brake-Free will take care of the corrosion.

Hawk;

For the corrosion, try some water with sodium bicarbonate (Arm&Hammer). Funny how you found this detector, i saw one like this for sale at Harbor Freight Tools...welcome to the 21st Century Micornta 4001...!!!

Cool looking old machine, Hawk! If it works - and it was cheap - it's a good addition to your arsenal!
