Default can you date these items?

Pappy ,

Found these items at a demo in the old part of downtown
Ive researced them and know basically what they are
but dating them is gonna be a challenge

With the exception of the chauffeurs's badge from Louisiana dated 1941

2 of the other items are as follows
H.DISSTON & SONS PHILADA. is a badge from the wooden handle of a hand saw
DISSTON was in business for quite a few years 1880 or so on up to about 1950's

The button is from a conductors jacket? and has the inscription LOS ANGELES RAILWAY there is a fist holding several lightening bolts in the center of the button ,from the research Ive done on it ,I believe the L.A. Railway was in existance roughly from about the 1880's up until about 1940ish

The ring is 14K and has that on the inside an amythist in the setting
is it possible to date jewelry?

havin a blast with this new hobby called metal detectin

SAM, METAL DETECTING...AIN'T IT FUN ! Looks like you had a pretty good day. I'll try my best to help out a little.

1. RING: It is very hard to date jewlery. I would have a jewel smith take a look at it. I remember my Uncle once had a ring that look similar and that was back in the early 50's.

2. Chauffeurs Badge, Louisiana-1941

3. H.DISSTON & SONS PHIL: Saw and hand tool mfg. in the mid 1800's. Lot of items from DISSTON on sale on e-bay at the present time. The emblem you have either came from the butt of a "RIP" saw or "BACK" saw. All the handles that DISSTON mfg. were made of BEECH wood. It might help if you check out:
http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/medallionpage.html

4.LOS ANGELES RAIWAY: This railway was an "ELECTRIC" Railway and operated from 1898 until 1944. STREETCARS. The button you have appears that it may have come from the early 40's possibly before. Check Out:

HOPE THIS WILL HELP A LITTLE...IF I CAN HELP IN ANY OTHER WAY...JUST HOLLER...PAPPY

emailed Tom Wetzel here is his responce about the button:

These buttons were produced from the earliest days of
LARY until the sale to National City Lines in 1944. They
are quite common. You can buy them for $1 on eBay.
