Default What kind of bullets are these?

I hunt mainly in the woods close to the Tallapoosa River. Its about 14 miles form where the battle of horseshoe bend took place. I got in a area today and started findint bullets everywhere! I mean I found a ton of them, some in trees, so on and so on. They dont look like very modern bullets but may be I dont have a clue, Thanks and Godbless,Charlie
I also found these little things that look like bullets, they are iron but they have points on them, thanks and Godbless,Charlie

I am amazed,LOL None can tell me anything about these bullets, They must be old. I asked a gun smith in town and he told me he never seen any like them, they might just be keepers.

Default Bullets

I am most sure that the first ones are .38/.357cal. wad cutters... ( Could be older ones but I doubt it)) I am still checking into the others.

Yep, looks like you hit someones old shooting range. Wadcutter's on the left. The boat tail's on the right look like 30.06 or 7.62.

Default Bmg's

I also think they are 50cal. BMG or 30.06 ( Possibly Tracers) without the brass.

Hi Charlie. I'm going with everyone else on this one. The lead bullets look like .38 wadcutters. These rounds are typically used for target shooting in revolvers, as the flat bullet nose punches nice, round holes in paper targets.
The corroded bullets are throwing me. The boattail and full metal jacket (FMJ) design sure point toward them coming from a military round. What is the calibre of these bullets? If you don't have a set of calipers, use open end wrenches as follows- an easy fit into a 5/16" indicates .30 calibre; and a snug fit in a 1/2" wrench makes it a .50 calibre (a snug fit in a 3/8" equals .38 calibre, if you want to check your lead bullets).
The corrosion in these last bullets is also unusual, although I've found military slugs that were eaten up in very similar manner. Will a magnet stick to these guys, by chance?
Regardless, I think that you're into a good spot. Keep hunting it, and perhaps some future finds may tell more about the background of the site.
Good finds, and thanks for sharing!
