Default Is this a Rev. War era button?

I found this button about two miles from where the Battle of the Brandywine (PA) took place today. I have looked up some and it seems to be close to a lot that I have seen. It is concave not flat.
It was pretty deep. Can't see any markings at all. Also, can I use peroxide on this?

Thanks - Brian

That thing looks ancient! But very very cool. Nice to see research paying off! How deep was it exactly? Do you know?

Default Button

Looking at the button I would think it to be of the Rev. or Colonial period. It is very hard to tell with just a pic. NICE FIND !

Usually, if the shank of the button is protruding from a "bump" in the back, it's going to be older than Civil War. I've found some over the years where the shank, or eye is gone, but the "bump" remains. Also, it seems that the Colonial buttons seem to be larger??(at least that's my guess).

Thanks everyone. I want to do this area bad but its all soccer fields. I have to get in and get out early. The fields belong to a club and I don't think they really want you digging there even know I am extra careful when MDing sports areas. The button was about six or seven inches down.
The area I am doing was where the British troops were positioned.
