Default surveyors sight?

Hi Pappy, can you help me with identifying this thing I found?

It looks like a surveyors sight glass..

I think its made of brass and has a piece on the bottom that looks like it might have slid onto another part.

One lense is still intact while the other is gone.. There is a little square site within the glass..

Looks to be a field sight from a surveyors transit.

Joker! It's a view finder for a camera. It clips into the flash hot shoe! Old school camera. They used this stuff called Film!

Sorry Pappy! I lost a few of those my self!
