kinda thought it was the bill was in the heart shield bible so kinda thought it was from that area in 1944

"Lire/Lira" would be Italian, wouldn't it? The French I thought used Francs....

I watched a show on the History cChannel the other day about gold, the gold standard, and the US inventing the idea of paper money... the first notes were actually printed and redeemed by private banks... you can still find a few of these bills floating around... thing that scared me the most was how they explained that the US basically said,"here's some paper money... it's backed by... um, nothing!..."

Gold prices sure went in the $hitter after that...

Also learned that the real cause of the Depression was actually a ship full of US gold going down on it's way to New York from California...

I'm not up on paper money either, but *starting* to get fairly good at research.
