Pappy, What do you think?
It appears to be some type of shell casing. It has a slot in each side and the base appears to have been hit by a firing pin. I have not measured it but I would say it is aprox. 5/8" diameter. Any info you have would be appreciated.

I Believe It's
an old lipstick case. The slot is where the stem was located to push the lipstick in and out of the holder. It is missing the outer casing or cover. The ding on the base is just that....an old ding.

Lipstick Tube
MARK, ROGER is right in that it is the bottom portion of an old lipstick tube. Probably from around the mid 50's...PAPPY
