Hello pappy,i was hoping you could help me on this.I found this at the war of 1812 spot.At first i was thinking it was hardware off of a piece of furniture.But the holes along the edge make me think it was sewn on to something and the ring on the edge im thinking could have held a tasel ?

Epulet
RIP, It appears to me to be a shoulder epulet. The epulet would have been sewn to the coat shoulder and the braid or cord would have run through the hole on the epulet....PAPPY
