hello pappy,i was going through some old finds and found this it's gold plated 2x1 1nch hinged and has a small latch.( i broke the hinge trying to clean it oop's) I found this at an old foundation site in locust grove VA a few years back and for the life of me i cant figger what it could be.help !

hey,pappy I have had this thing for a long time and it has always puzzeled me.I know it's probably jewelry,but cant figger out what the hole's would be for.I found it by an old foundation dating from the 1800's in locust grove V.A.Also the site of an old grain mill.My house still had the old water weel in the creek out front and my house was part of the mill.Miss that place,at the time i had a detector but dident use it much

I know this isn't it, but I had a cigar cutter that looked a lot like it years ago.

Well Rip, This one took a little while but I found out that is a medical item from the 1930's and was used by Doctor's to hold their Magnafying and Refraction glass. It was a piece that could be hung around the neck and was very conveinant to the doctor when needed....PAPPY
