Default Another item in ?

Found this ring in a yard . It looks like two or three seperate metals twisted to make a ring. Any other info would be great.

I don't know about yours but while working on a construction job we made rings like that out of different welding rods. We got the 3 different types of wire and then twisted them in a vise with a drill motor. Then we made the circle and welded or soldered them together.
Hope this might help.

Hey Boobie,
I remember those days when I was a Pipefitter! I never made a twisted wire ring but made several rectangle belt buckles with straight pieces of twisted wire above and below the name plate. We also made up a large section of Stainless Pipe outside with different size stainless tubing inside filled with welding wire welded on one end. Simply weld up the other end, cut off a 1/4" section and pass it around to the next person. I still have a few of my Father's rectangle buckles, some of mine and a round one or two! Those were the good Ole Days!

Hello del40,
Sorry I wasn't any help and got off the original subject but Boobie brought back some old memories!

del40 neat ring find! If it was made from a construction worker they did a pretty good job! You others made me think of something my husband brought home one day. This was made from an Iron worker...They can be very artistic! I thought this was neat! Hope you don't mind me adding this picture here!

Default Wire Ring

My oldest son's cub scout troop made a bunch of wire rings like that for the den mothers. He will be 17 yrs old Sunday and he wants my truck.

I told him a long time ago he could have it when he turned 17. At the time, we were building it out of five wrecked trucks. It is a 1991 Chevy S-10 Tahoe Short Bed 4 wheel drive with a 4.3L with a four inch lift, 15" tires and basically my MDing truck. Guess I better get started (re)building another one. I liked it cause it was light enough not to get stuck all the time and good on the gas.

Check your area. May have been a bunch of Cub Scouts doing the same thing.

James

Default Thanks Pappy

I will tell him that when I talk to him again. He lives in Pittsburg........TX and he is a Steeler Fan, so them winning the Super Bowl was great for him. He is actually my adopted son but I have claimed him since he was a pup and he claims me. The state makes me pay child support on him so I guess that makes him my kid. Me and his mother have been divorced for over 10 years now. Me and my ex have two other kids (one of these are also adopted by me) so I actually have six kids in all!! Figure one of 'em would take care of me when I get old and unable to care for myself. Probably be Mark that will do it. He is that type.

Mark Ryan is in ROTC and fixing to get certified to be an EMT and Firefighter. He's talking about putting blue and red strobes on the little truck and using it to go to emergencies with.

Default Ring

DEL, I saw many of these rings in the 1950's. Mostly made from copper and I have seen rings with as many a six different strands put together. Have made several myself and they are very easy to make...PAPPY
