Post Not a clue

Hi Pappy,

Found this at the lower farm last week and have no idea what it is. I took it to work and it was the subject of alot of speculation.

It seems to be made of copper or brass, and if you look through the bottom where the keyhole cutout is the round base of the object is threaded. It is definitely not a pipe thread,it is way too fine.

Any ideas??

HJ

I took this odd item to a local antique shop whose owner is in his early 90s. He looked at it curiously at first, and then a smile crept to his face.
He said " Son what you got here is a quantum ionizing reverse thrust polarizer of a primitive alien space ship. They sell on Ebay for about 4-6 dollars."

Seriously, the antique shop owner marveled at the keyway. He did not know what it was, but he told me to hang on to it as it was definitely antique. Same response from the local historical society octegenarian curator, and from vendors at an antique mall a few miles away.

My father in law is convinced that it is mining equipment related. He said it was brass so it would not spark.

Thanks for the responses,

HJ
