O.K. Here it is. The lamp is dark with age. Should I shine it up? There is writing all over the base and top, Arabic??? The cathead on top is hinged to leave a oil hole in the top. Cute bird on the handle. Everyone that sees it wants to rub it. Even if it is from Kabul, Afg., it might be from anywhere in the M.E. Appreciate you giving it a stab on age and worth.

My thought on it is. Leave it alone until you are sure of its age and origin. It may be worth more as it is with the original patina on it. Along with Pappy's comments, I think it would be advisable to take it to a reputable antique dealer for a judgment.

Leave it in it's present stage. I would love for you to post what is written on it if possible and I may be able to find someone to translate it. If you can't post the lettering maybe you can make me a rubbing of it and send it to me by snail mail and I'll do my best to get it translated.
