Default Coil

AL, Using the standard coil that came with the unit. Hope to get the smaller coil before long. Can't really answer your question right at the time due to the fact I have never compared the coils. Tony could answer this question for you. I'm certain that he has compared the coils before...PAPPY

Default Sniper Coil

Hey Al, I got the small 4 1/2" Sniper coil for my 250. I put it on and have never taken it off. Almost like using a different detector. Makes pinpointing so much easier. Great for trashy areas. I guess I really don't see a whole lot of difference in depth from the stock coil. I have never really tested it, I don't have a coin garden set up, but I still seem to be finding about the same stuff at the same depths as with the large coil.
Try one of the Sniper coils, I betting you will love it too.

Default Sniper

Works better than the original coil around metal posts, grandstands etc. I just have to turn the sensitivity down to about 4 notches.

The smaller coil will be better for trashy areas and pinpointing since it is a round concentric coil. The Eliptical coils squish the magnetic field inward and cause a bit of trouble whwn pinpointing. The larger coil will get you about 15% more depth overall but also magnifies the pinpointing problem. I am hopeful that Garrett will come out with a 9 to 10" round coil. This in my opinion will put the Ace 250 over the top for almost all under 400.00 detectors.
