You have one of the WLH's that survived a rough ciruclation period. Very seldom will you find a WLH that has the detail that has remained with your coin. Usually the W has been rubbed off over a period of time.
The W is not a mint mark. The W is for A.Weinman the coin designer but like I said it is rarely seen on the coin due to heavy circulation.
Your coin is 90% Silver and 10% Copper. The only places that it was minted would have been at Philadelphia, San Francisco or Denver.
The coin you have in it's present condition would fetch approx. $7.00 on the coin market today.
NICE FIND !!!PAPPY
P.S. ON WLH'S the mint mark is on the front under "IN GOD WE TRUST" if the coin is 1916 or early 1917 Otherwise it is located left of the "H" on the reverse side of the coin....PAPPY
