pappy,who do you have grade coins?

i found a 1911d 2-1/2$ indianhead gold coin along with (2) canadian dimes in a small leather coin purse. the gold coin looks like new. i would like to get it graded (it may be worth something). but, i just don't want to send it off god knows where and take a chance of never seeing it again. how do you get yours graded????

GEO, Let me be the first to say CONGRAT'S on your find. It is truly a unique find.
I usually have PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service) grade my coins. They are one of the top four grading companies and the one most accepted for "Sight Unseen" Trading.
PCGS is part of Collectors Universe, who's primary owners/CEO's are among the nations largest coin dealers. They have very nice Holders, Accurate Grading, DO NOT grade problem coins and Good Customer Service.

Getting back to the coin you found. Just ref. to a 2003 grading book your coin in VERY FINE condition should be valued around $650.00. In EXTRA FINE condition it should be worth around $990.00 and in MS-60 UNC. Condition it could fetch around $3,000.00. The ABP (Approx. Buying Price) for the coin is around $400.00...Keep in mind though I am going strictly by a 2003 grading process. Could be MUCH MORE at the present time.
