Pat, brass doesn't rust. Although it will oxidize. Are you sure it is made of brass?
Never the less it is a nice find.

Things sure do change fast, don't they!!! I will try and get a photo and post of what this area looked like 50 years ago!!! I am just amazed....Roads then that are not here now and there was no trees... just pasture, and farm houses....Now just buildings going up everywhere!!!! New roads and interstates and lots of noise!!!

Looks like a great place for Metal Detecting! I hope you find lots of old coins and maybe a few rings as well!!! Be careful on your way to Texas; we just came back from our trip to Dallas... horrible weather driving there on Christmas Eve, horrible wrecks along the way. Let us know how you do MDing there! God Bless!

Depends on were ya live ! Here in my area everything is pretty much the same as its been for many many years. Were i lived in VA back in the 80's ,there was an old farm surounded by 100's of acres of woods and fields (loaded with civil war relics's) a nice quite fish pond(used to cach some big ole bass & and more than one snapper and watersnake there)I also found some cool arowheads raised goats/horses/pigs/chickens/turkeys/ferrets/rabbits just to name a few ! Today its wall to wall houses and stip malls, the pond is a sluge pit !

We are going north of Dallas...heard thunder earlier...but nothing at the moment...Oh I thought I heard thunder but could be my brother cranking up his jeep...shop just down the road...he is changing it just a bit from the last pic I posted of him under the hood...I will add a pic...looking nice, now if it will get threw that mud...he will find out new year's!!!

I went and got some more better pics...you got me curious on the brass...it has oxidation...or a green patina to it, not rust, but I guess this is a kind of rust for brass...was wondering if it could be bronze? I don't know the difference...probably just brass...has a yellow color to it. Boobie it rang in at an 88.
Maybe this is the plumbers name and his phone number to call if ya had any cloggs Who knows!!! I think it is a neat find also!!! Also added a pic of the eagle claw.

I added a pic of the area I hunted...this is all different now...I beleive the well is where the 2 houses sit at the bottom of the pic...the road that runs up beside them is no longer there and the farm is no longer there...houses are gone too!!! Just new buildings and roads and just a little patch of woods running where I believe that old road once was.

Pat
