Question First gold ... maybe?

Dug this item a couple of days ago at an old house site. I've shown it around to some of the locals in town with no id help as yet. It came out of the ground looking just as the photos show with a very nice, clean gold look and needing no cleaning (much like a silver coin sometimes). The best guess so far is a gold plated cuff link or stud ... what do you think, Pappy? Did I find my first gold? Any help would be appreciated.

Default Cuff Link

CUFF LINK...It may be plated but I don't think it is solid. Take it to a jewler...Should be no charge unless you ask him to appraise it. They usually let you know what it is made of for free. NICE FIND.

Does it have any markings on the back of it at all?

No markings on the back that I can see but it does appear to have some design on the face though it is so faint that I can't make it out.
