Button?

Pappy,
I found this button along with two gilt buttons at an old homestead. I was able to identify the other two but I cannot find this one. Any Ideas?

WELL,WELL,WELL... Looks like you have located a small Union Cavalry Rosette from the Western Theatre of Operations. U.S.Shield and 13 stars with the stripes running "Up& Down". Aware of some being found at Kenesaw Mountain Battlefield but nowhere else. Classified as a VERY RARE rosette.Can't give you a price on it myself Mike but I will do some checking. I still would like to know the size of the item when you get the chance. THANKS....PAPPY :D :D :D

Thanks for the info. Whatever it is, it is exactly the same size as a quarter. I just thought it was some type of a button.
