Default Help with Bell

Pappy.

I dug this bell last week over where an old house was just torn down by Fort Necessity. The house was 200 years old. I think that the bell was in one of the walls. The condition is too good to be outside. I also found some kind of old Spanish Coinage in the field by the house...I will post those later. A dentist friend of mine took it and cleaned it with some kind of electrolisis macine. I can not seem to find anything about the bell and what it is made of.

Default BELL

LOOKS LIKE A GOOD FIND !! CONGRATS..May be a dinner bell or a servants bell. Appears to be made of brass but I can't really tell by the photo. Beautiful designs. Look inside the bell and see if it has a mfg. stamp or any marks inside and let me know. Can't really give you a dating or value unless you can find some type mark on bell. Look on the handle also for any marks...Let me know what you find out and we will go from there..THANKS...PAPPY :D :D :D

Default BELL

Studying the markings on the bell it appears that it may have come from the Colonial Period....PAPPY :D :D :D

Default BELL

ROB, I had a friend over today and he took a look at the photo of the bell. He agrees that it appears it came from the Colonial period...Possibly the mid to late 1700's, more possibly the late 1700's. He said to look inside and see if it had a weird looking little stamp or design in it and let me know.....THANKS...PAPPY :D :D :D

Pappy...I forgot. I took it back down to have the inside cleaned and it does have some kind of weird but small stamp. It looks like it might be a crown and some type of decor around it. About 1/4 inch in size. It would be nice if that was the era. The old cabin was built in the Mid 1700's. Where I found the bell. Thanks........

Default BELL

O.K. ROB. My friend is here with me now and we feel that it's origin may be ENGLAND in the late 1700's. Have it checked well. You really have a nice find there. Go to the library or check on line for any information you can find. We will do the same and let you know what we find out. The crown is possibly an English mark. If you can get a photo of the mark it sure would help....Is it possible the circle around the mark is a wreath?....PAPPY :D :D :D
