Default Should have been near perfect conditions at Horseshoe Bay yesterday

I did a drive by on Horseshoe Bay Saturday, waves were breaking at 4-5 feet with an extra high and extra low tide, strong onshore winds. Sunday the wind was supposed to shift 180 degrees with an even better minus tide, couldn't sound better right? Wrong!
I hit the beach an hour and a half before low tide to get the most out of it. The most of it was next to nothing, just an eerie silence in my headphones, punctuated twice by strong sounding, shallow pull tabs which I dug out of boredom. Classic, heavily sanded in conditions, the large area of wet sand produced the same results, zippo!
I wanted to bail out after an hour for another beach but I had promised a newbie that I would help him set up his machine and give him some pointers so I retreated to a sheltered bathing cove which produced $.37 in clad. A couple of tourist from Minnesota stopped to chat with me and I found a WWII Lee Enfield bullet while we were chatting so I gave it to them, they were as thrilled as if I had given them a gold ring. My newbie friend showed up late and I gave him a lesson in wet sanding, set up his machine and then left him to his own devices as per his request.
I got back to my beach for a quick spin on the tail end of the low tide. The first thing I saw when I hit the beach was a drowned toad, not a good omen. Very little on my beach but that is mostly because I have pounded this beach hard and managed to drag over 20 rings out of it.
After an hour I had a big goose egg but then I hit a honey hole full of quarters all laid out in a row like little soldiers but no gold or silver further out. A good proof for the coin line. Called it a day as the sun was setting with a total take for the day of $2.27.
Did I have fun? You Betcha!

Cheers All,

BDA

Default We both had a much better day than Kermit

This is a cane toad, imported to Bermuda to eat cockroaches and other insect pests. Good idea, except cane toads don't eat cockroaches, though they eat most everything else. The roads will be littered with them in a few months. These critters get up to a foot long and have a poisonous skin that will make a human dizzy and put a dog into convulsions.
Further proof that it's not nice to fool with Mother Nature.

What did the toad show up as on the meter?

Maybe he swallowed something good!
