Default Cambridge Beaches Ring Return

I got back from my hunt this morning and was getting ready to drop by the work site to check in on my guys when I received a call from the GM of the hotel next door to my cottage, Cambridge Beaches. I had contacted the hotel last year to enlist their help in finding the original owners of some of my ring finds from the beach I share with the hotel. I assumed that they were finally getting back to me with a match or two (everything takes a long time to happen in Bermuda ).
No dice, the GM was calling to ask me to help locate a lost ring on the property, the lady lost it 2 months ago and it had strong sentimental value (like I said, things take a LONG time here), would I be willing to help.
I explained to the GM that I was just going out the door to work but that I would come over and look right away. Done deal, the GM showed me the lawn behind the $1,400/night cottage where the lady lost her plain gold wedding band and I got to work. 10 minutes later I had it in my hand, was it ever thin for somebody paying $1,400/night on vacation. My guess is that they got married young and poor; then made good through hard work, at least that is what I would like to imagine.
I dropped the ring off to the GM and he thanked me profusely, offered me a weekend package for free, free dinner for my wife and myself and gave me the run of the other beaches on the property ( I only share one beach with the hotel).
Good deed done for the day, this Boy Scout headed into work.

Cheers,

BDA

We always felt that Cambridge Beaches was and is a very nice place. We did a fair amount of work there. they always treated us nicely. The other place we really enjoyed was Bob Stigwoods estate.

Default Boobie, Where is Bob Stigwood's Estate?

Is that now Tom Moore's Tavern out by the Crystal Caves?

It is near Somerset. on the north shore. It's the peninsula that has the gates across them Robert had all the rights to the Bee Gees, OhCalcuta and Hair. If you see a vintage Chris Craft speed boat cruising around the island that would be him.

bdahunter congrats on the ring find, can’t really tell from the pic but it does look yellow, 14K or 18K.
Kind of funny how finding one ring that’s being actively looked for feels better than finding two that’s been abandoned, well very close anyway.
Hope you find many more on the newly opened, to you, beaches. WTG.

Default Bob Stigwood's Estate I will check it out with my local friends.

I haven't seen a classic Chris Craft so perhaps Bob has moved on, I have a 1959 CC Constellation so it is the sort of boat I would notice and remember.

Cheers,

BDA

Default Helping somebody recover a lost ring felt great but different than finding loot.

I've had people suggest that when I find wedding bands in the water that I have an obligation to try to find the original owner. If there are initials or a date and a hotel nearby I try to work with the hotel to source a possible return. However, I do not start asking around on the beach if anyone has lost a plain goldband lately if I make a find.
"Attention all beach goers, has anybody lost a ring that looks like this??"
One woman suggested to me that treasurehunting was a lot like stealing. I suppose she thought that people were leaving their jewellery in the surf for safe keeping and I was looting them.
Most people find treasurehunting in the water pretty interesting and many people swim up to me with questions that are often inciteful as well as interesting, some people even make suggestions on other places I might want to hunt.
It takes all kinds I suppose but in general people are pretty decent.

Good hunting,

BDA
