I hit the beach at Mangrove Bay on Saturday and decided to avoid the sand and hit the weeds instead (I've hunted the sand area to death). I came up with an old harmonica, 2 50 cent pieces and a few old British pennies.
Sunday I went to Horseshoe Bay and it was as sanded in as the last 2 times I visited there. After half an hour of silence punctuated by pull tabs I was ready to pack it in but I remembered Norm from the Goldenolde's advice - BE VERSATILE WITH YOUR HUNTING STYLE!
I went to the rocks at the end of the beach and started hunting. I passed the coil over a large rock and near blew my headphones off, dug down until it was just exposed rock but no loot. I noticed a fist sized pocket of sand in the middle of the rock and fanned out the sand with my hand to a depth of 8 inches and what did I find?
2 Silver bracelets trapped in that little honey hole, that's what! One bracelet made out of silver starfish and the other shaped like sand dollars, star fish and shells.
It pays to be versatile!
Cheers,
BDA
