Default found this at the beach this morning

Found this coin of some type this morning high on the beach about 6" deep.it was totally encrusted to where I could hardly tell it was a coin.
I scraped it as best that I could to remove the heaviest crud, then put it to soak in a weak solution of muratic acid.I know I probably should'nt have used the acid, but I was desperate! I took it out after a couple of hours and scraped some more. All along the outer edge it's squared off at 1/8" intervals. It's about the same thickness as a dime, but bigger around, but slightly smaller than a nickel.Probably will never be able to tell what it is,but please have a look
thanks,Dave

Default I would say that you found an old style Canadian Nickel

They stopped making them that way quite a while ago.

Cheers,

BDA

Okay, is it just me or did you come out of left field with that one. I honestly have no idea how you guys are able to figure out these coins when they look like a pitted sandy mess. WOW

I'm humbled, to say the least. Great job on that ID.

Default How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice, Practice

It helps a little that I'm a Canadian of course.

Cheers,
