I got out for a nice spin this morning on the southshore beaches. The wind was up and the sky was threatening so I had to hurry before I heard the rumble of thunder. Church Bay was rough and tumble by the time I got there so I had to pass it up, the wind was shifting and with the waves.
I tried Horseshoe Bay but it was badly sanded in and the life guards were on duty so I moved to Warwick Long Bay but it was no better, heavily sanded in and the waves starting to pick up. I retreated to the quite of Jobson's Cove which is a very sheltered swimming hole beside Long Bay and I got a big signal an hour into the hunt. At a foot deep I found an old brass shell casing, I checked again and there was still a strong signal so I dug for another six inches and pulled out another brass shell casing just like the first. The hole was now a foot and a half deep and 2 feet across but I gave it one last scan and the tone had changed to something sounding more like GOLD! Another foot of digging brought me to rocks and gravel and that's where I found the nice 14k yellow gold ring pictured below.
With thunder now rumbling in the background I headed for home and a warming communion of 151 proof black rum mixed with sweet ginger beer, it's a Bermudian drink called a 'Dark'n Stormy', delicious and warming after a 2 hour hunt.
Cheers,
BDA
