Default Ground Balancing DFX on Beach

Hi everyone, I'm a new DFX user and I'm at the beach in Emeral Isle NC. As I said I'm new at metal dectecting and this is my first experience at the beach. For some reason I can't ground balance my DFX. I was wondering if anyone has any idea what I could do to get it to ground balance?

So far I've found a fair amount of pull tabs, foil, bottle caps and 56 cents in clad. I sure expected to find more junk. The beach seems as though it is junk free.

Any help would sure be appreciated.

Thanks,

I would think their website would have the needed info. If not one of the sponsors will definately be able to help.

Thanks Julieburger for your reply. After I posted I went to the DFXonly website and learned that not being able to ground balance at the beach was a normal thing and that it meant very little ground mineralization. It was ok to let the machine go to the preset functions.

Take Care,

If you are getting the "UNABLE TO BALANCE INSTALLING PRESET LEVELS" message... thats normal in very low mineralized soil like sand. Dont worry about it becaue the DFX will set the course at 135 which is about VDI -43. You can turn off auto track and set the course yourself at 128 for single freq or 150 for dual freq.

The first thing I thought about was, was the all metal or pinpoint toggle switch pushed to on. Just a thought.
