Default My New Personal Best

I went hunting at the old beach beside the Royal Naval Dockyard and found my personal best find today. I was out neck deep as usual when I saw a swirl of water and a large triangular fin parallelling the beach 50 feet further out from where I was hunting. I hightailed it back to knee deep water and climbed up on a big rock to look for the shark but it was gone. After about 5 minutes of watching and seeing nothing I got back to hunting but stayed in the shallower water. I found the ticket I had been digging when I saw the shark and it turned out to be an old, brass, Rolls Royce key ring . After a while I dug a deep, 1918 British Large Penny, sweet. Towards the end of the hunt I started digging a gold tone in some rocks and found a very deep crucifix that was heavily encrusted with coral sand and corrosion. I figured it was probably junk because it was so corroded and so big 3 1/4" x 2" but I put in my loot bag just the same.
The shark had me pretty spooked and I couldn't concentrate so I called it a day after 2 hours and headed for home.
When I started cleaning my finds I could see the gleam of gold from the crucifix and after over an hour of cleaning I found that I had an antique gold crucifix with fleur de lys on it so I figure it to be french. Easily from the 1800's and possibly earlier, I have to do some research on this find.

Cheers,

BDA

The shark turned out to be good luck because I wouldn't have bothered hunting the shallows except for him and so I wouldn't have found the crucifix.

I am terrified of sharks, they are amazing creatures and I am addicted to shark week but I do not want to meet one like you did. He may be ggod luck but unlike coilcop's lucky musket balls I don't think I would recommend keeping a shark around.

Default Horseshoe Bay is heavily sanded in at the moment.

The hunt for the platinum is on hold until it clears a little, I saw Mark on Saturday A.M. hunting the area where it was lost and I tried the area as well without success. I didn't find so much as a penny in an hour of hunting it's that badly sanded. The new moon is coming so the minus tides will help bring the platinum back into range.
We haven't given up, just biding our time on that one.

Cheers,

BDA
