Default Tried to do a good deed...

Went to Ocean City, NJ for a few hours of relaxation on the beach and then some detecting too of course. People were hanging on the beach late today as it was so pleasant. ( I was getting mad that they weren't going home! LOL) Anyway as I'm detecting around the blankets a woman came running up to me and asked me if I could help find a lost ring. They said it was silver with a heart shaped diamond. I was sure I could find it if it was silver. I checked the area in a grid and went over it several more times but no luck. I even checked further around the area. I was so disappointed that I was not able to find the ring for the woman. I did take her number in case I found it later but no luck. Short hunt, only found 19 clad coins and 1 token.

So if anyone finds this ring on the 11th street beach, back by the boardwalk area, I have her number!

Exclamation Q & A

When I am faced with this kind of situation, I feel the need to ask questions.

Did you move the towel/blanket during the day?
When did you last know you had the ring?
Did you take the ring off? Where did you put it?
Did you go swimming?
Did you go to the refreshment stand/restroom? When? Wash hands?
Shake water off them?
Did you use/shake out the towel/blanket?
Did you have a cooler you used?
Did you use a beachbag?
Play frisbe/catch/vollyball/tag etc. ?

Bottom line, the ring is "lost" because they don't know where or what they were doing when they became separated from it.

The list can vary considerably depending on area and conditions.

Good job on trying to help and good hunting in the future.

Joe

I hope you will find it for the lady the next time you are out on the beach. I know in my heart that you will make her day when you call her and tell her that you found her ring. Good luck looking for it later!!!

Default Search for lost ring?

Cntrydncr1, have you given up on the search for this? I hope not! Being made of silver, you should have found it on your 1st search! So........................that probably means that it wasn't lost where they think it was! OR................it is lying next to some metal debri which is distorting the signal! Go back and grid off the area and you can either hunt in the all-metal mode or set the discrimination low so that it only knocks out the small iron debri!.................HH..................Joe
