Default 4 for 4 at horseshoe Bay

I got out for my last hunt of the holiday this morning and the surf god didn't disappoint me. 1 nice little gold band in the scoop this morning and a junker ringer as well as some clad. A pretty good hunt and I ran into Mark for a change of pace, usually I am hunting alone. I also managed a gold plated chain which was a bit of a let down but at least it confirms that the Excal can pick up chains. (very broken signal)
Horseshoe Bay has offered up a decent ring on each of my last four hunts there, 2 yellow gold, 1 white gold and 1 silver. I'll have to hit it again on my way home from work tomorrow.
Cheers All,

BDA

What a beautiful place to dig. Congrats on the rings and the other finds. You always seem to do very well there.

Default I've developed a pretty good feel for the Excal, Steve.

I've switched to a different set up when I hunt and it punches really deep. I set the sensitivity to 10 o'clock, zero disc and threshold set to barely audible (here's the twist) then I retard the threshold just a tweak further so that I lose the threshold hum completely.
Rather than setting the sensitivity at 11 or 12 o'clock to avoid falsing and listening for the threshold break to indicate a deep target, this setting allows me to run the Excal as 'hot' as possible when it comes to sensitivity so the deep targets are clearly audible . It's a little different at first, hunting without the hum but when you go over a target, you know it. The threshold will creep back over time but you just have to adjust it back down.
If you haven't tried this setting, you might want to give it a go, Steve.

Cheers,

BDA

Default Julie Burger, Where are you hunting that you only find zinc lids??

Are you holding out on us with your loot? Come on, Pirate Gal, let's see what you're finding and if it's not much then we've got to have a little chat to increase your chances of filling up the treasure chest.

Kewl,

BDA

Default No time to hunt lately, Surf Looter.

Between work and inconvenient timing of low tides, I've barely managed to get out once a week lately. Having a 4 day long weekend over Cup Match really helped to increase the ticket count. I haven't seen you posting a lot lately, either Surf Looter. I'm assuming that work has got you bogged down as well.

Cheers,

BDA
