Default A nugget from life...

Got out to the beach and was hunting in an area where a strong current was moving the sand. I found this 14Karat nugget ring in the 1st 10 minutes of the hunt. Stones are Moisannite.

While I was hunting, a young man approached and was asking the typical questions. He spoke perfect English abnd said his name was Jason. I had seen him enter the water and noted that his left leg was deformed but he could swim and dive with the best of them.

We started talking and he told me about the loss of his grandfather and how hard it had affected him. We conversed about the value of memories and how I was sure his grandpa would want him to get on with his life.

He then told me that he had suffered an even harder blow in his life. I took my headphones off and turned the machine off and asked, "What happened?"

He told me how his mother had abandoned him and it took 3 days for his father (who was on duty in the Air Force) to get to him. I could see the hurt in his eyes as he related this to me and I spoke to him for the next hour about how she probably dd not want to hurt him and that he was surely not the reason why she left him.

We talked until someone called him to leave and at our parting he said, "I think you are pretty cool." I felt better hearing those few words than with anything I have found there at the beach. Thanks for that nugget, Jason...

That was a great story. I think it was great of you to take the time to listen to Jason. Not many people in todays rush, rush world would have done that.
Congrats on the ring, and the life nugget, Beale.

I agree with everyone else, all it took was a few minutes of time to make 2 people walk away with a feeling that will last. WTG

He needed a sympathetic ear and you were there. You probably gave him something that no one around him thinks to do, just take a moment to listen. We already knew you were a great guy for taking care of your dad and you just reinforced that today. I am glad to say I know you and I think you are really cool.

That's a very good story. It takes a lot to take the time and be able to listen. He will not forget it or will you. Buster

It's great that you took time from hunting to give Jason some encouragement. You made a friend and left a lasting impression on him I'm sure. Nice story!
