Default hard work doesn’t always pay off

went to asbury park beach (nj) today. wow - talk about waves + sand! Worked the water for about 1hr. Only got 3 signals during that time - 2 of them kept moving so i gave up on them feeling that they were light junk + also that it was very hard to scoop in this type of action. The third signal i got on my 1st scoop - a pull-tab! Being that the current was substantial i didn’t get in over lower chest deep. There was only one other person on the beach - a fisherman.
After leaving the water i changed + took out my cibola. I worked the dry sand for another 2 hrs. this is where all the stuff in the pic came from.
At least i learned more about working in the water + got some great exercise today.
Donald

Sorry the surf didn't give it up to you. The good stuff is just hiding.

Thumbs up Good day.

Looks like a good day. It is always good to be at the beach and in the water. You managed a little treasure and cleaned a bunch of trash out of the sand. That will improve future hunts at this beach. You also got some good exercise.
Yup, a good day indeed. All the right stuff.
Happy hunting and good luck in the surf.

Congrats.Still you had some nice finds, and you got to hunt. All I did was sand a 130 airplane motor for a few hours at work. Wish I was hunting instead. Will wait for the weekend...Buster......

Sounds like the water is like the dry land....Sometimes we do good and sometimes not. Good job getting out hunting and thanks for sharing. JC

Hey Donald, I know what you mean. I started water detecting this year at the beach, and had a heck of a time in the deeper water, found a target, tried to get the scoop on it without hitting my coil or my foot, dig, scan again and find that I moved a couple of feet and on and on. I think the only way to detect in heavy waves is with a short shaft, mask and snorkel which I'll try next year.

a question about the moving targets - do you think that they are lighter junk anyway?
