Default Can't wait!

On Friday I'm heading to Florida for some detecting and a cruise next week. I'm more excited about the detecting! LOL I should get to do a few hours at least 2 days. I sure hope I find at least one piece of jewelry to make it interesting.

:merrychristmas: everyone and I'll report back after the 1st of the year.

Default Best of Luck on your hunt and lots of fun on your cruise but remember

Florida has a lot of rules to follow when it comes to metal detecting the beaches and waters of this state. You might want to do a little advance research on the do's and don't's of metal detecting in Florida. If I recall correctly, the penalty for hunting in prohibited areas is a hefty fine and confiscation of your equipment.

Cheers,

BDA

Thanks for the advice. I have hunted these beaches before. There does not seem to be a problem either on the sand or in the water here. No wrecks to worry about I guess!

Default metal detecting in florida

to my understanding all beaches are okay to metal detect. I went to a state park a while ago and even asked the guy if I could detect the beach that was in park property and he said no problem so I believe all beaches are pretty much okay. I usually detect south beach, pompano beach, ft lauderdale beach. Never been a problem. I think Key West has some stricter rules and am not too sure about up more north Florida. Hope this helps.

Default Rules

I just read that all historical finds are state property when found in parks / beaches but other than that - gold etc.. is free game.

Default Florida is a long way from my hunting grounds but I've heard there are restrictions

Florida hunters I know, tell me that the waters edge to the dunes is generally fair game. The treasure coast is pretty heavily restricted and some of the parks have a big problem with detectorists. I wish I were more knowledgeable about this but I felt I should warn you about the restrictions because I have heard that the consequences are pretty stiff.

Good hunting,

BDA
