Default Beach detecting tips for a newbie?

Hi. I am new to metal detecting.

I am planning a trip to the beach in Western Washington and would appreciate any tips from the experts for a new metal detector. I will be using my brand new Garrett Ace 250.

Thanks!

Keep the control box dry & dig everything!

I have heard that the Ace is an excellent beach detector. I suggest a sand scoop and head phones, Have fun and happy hunting.

Definitely get a sand scoop, better if you can get one with the 3 ft handle, no bending over & saves tons of time, good luck!

Thanks! I will add a set of headphones and a long-handles scoop to my list of things to get.

Default Here's an Excellent Video on using your ACE 250 at the Beach

YouTube - CRACKBADGER AND THE ACE 250 QUICK TIP VIDEO!

I've posted this before but it really should be required viewing for all Ace 250 users at the beach.

Good Hunting to You,

Reed a long handle scoop looks like the way to go. I use the short small one and it wears me out after a while. As "E" says the long one is the way to go. I might be changing over real soon. Head phones are a must if you are deaf like me. I can hear things pretty good with them. They are a pain but I have learned to live with it. I would also dig everything that makes a sound. You will get a lot of trash but you might get something good also......Good Luck and Happy Hunting....Buster...
